Robins run for Charity
Thankyou to those Robins who entered the Sport Relief runs on
23rd March.

George Roberts bravely ran the six
mile race to keep his dad going and had to complete the course (and the hills)
twice.
On the same day, Matthew Cox ran his first 10k in the Beacon Bunny run for Alzheimer’s and despite taking the running relatively easy having raced the day before, and going up the Beacon twice during the race, crossed the line in joint first place in under 45 minutes.
Loughborough Beacon Rotary is hoping to stage this event again next year and it would definitely be worth taking part (you can do 3k or even the Easter Egg hunt!). Hopefully there won’t be so many events clashing next time.
Robins out and about…….
Elliot Kind and Rhiannon Woolerton completed the Derby runner series of races over the winter. Elliot came second in his age group and Rhiannon came fourth in hers. Well done to you both.
Congratulations to Lucy Arkinstall, Sam Moore and Hannah Cox for their selection for the Leicestershire inter-counties cross country teams on 13th March. Unfortunately, both Sam and Lucy were injured during their races and couldn’t finish, but the Leicestershire U13 girls’ team came in bronze medal position.
Harriet Roberts, Lucy Fielding, Gemma Holland, George Roberts, Adam Smith, Nathan Lewis, Oliver Evans and Holly Drake took part in the county final of the school Sportshall competition. The year 7 girls won their final and will go to the regional final in April. Good luck girls!
Zach Meakin, Sam Moore and Hannah Cox all took part in the mini marathon trials on 7th March. Hannah successfully qualified for the East Midlands team to go to London on April 25th.
Sam also qualified for the English Schools’ race on 20th March in Manchester.
Amy Shaw, Elise Hall-Dryden, Daisy Tyers, Millie Shaw, Amber Stevens, Isobel Armstrong, Holly Powell and Daniel Edgecombe all ran in the Leicestershire Primary schools county final at Rutland water on 13th March. Amber and Isobel came in the top 10 for their age group, a fantastic achievement. Along with Ben Clarke, Daisy, Amy, Millie, Isobel and Holly also took part in the small schools final on 20th March.

March 20th 2010 – Thrussington Fun Run
for the last three years this has always had glorious sunny weather – of course not this year - and the younger Robins had to run through a downpour leaving the ground particularly muddy for the older ones. However it was still good fun and everyone who went enjoyed the haybales and streams of a proper mini cross country course. Also at least 7 of the older runners beat the times of the coaches who ran in the adult race!! Robins results as follows:
Race year 3 to year 6: Year 7 and above:
1st Jordan Meakin 1st Matthew Cox
2nd Isobel Armstrong 2nd Hannah Cox
3rd Isobel Hughes 3rd Zach Meakin
4th Daisy Tyers 4th Jake Shaw
5th Amy Shaw 5th Abby Williamson
6th Sam Ehlen 6th George Roberts
7th Millie Shaw 7th Harriet Roberts
8th Lucy Roberts
9th Holly Drake
10th Ellie Shaw
