Secondary School Runs

We have now had four school runs with one more remaining.

Although there were less Robins at Lutterworth, there were some great personal bests over what was considered to be the toughest course yet this year.

Year 7 Boys: Zach Meakin was in 3rd place

Year 7 Girls: Hannah Cox came in 1st place, with Zoe Harris coming in 22nd on her inaugural run.

Junior Girls: Georgia Gartside was in 11th place.

Intermediate Boys: Matthew Cox came in 11th place

The final school race this year is on 12th December at Melton.

The next cross country races for clubs are:

Saturday 9th January – County XC Championships, Oadby.

Saturday 30th January – Midlands XC Champs, - Stafford Common

Saturday 27th February – National XC Champs – Leeds

Individual positions count for these races, but there are also team placings. For the County races this is a team of three/four (up to six at the Nationals) so if anyone would like to join our teams please let Paul know ASAP. You have to be first claim to Robins.

Star Studded Coaching Session at the HIPAC

Over 60 Ivanhoe Robins, enjoyed a special Coaching Session at Loughborough University, Indoor Athletics Centre (HIPAC) on Saturday 28th November.

England Athletics, had organised 2 Specialist Coaches (Flying Coaches Scheme) to lead on our High Jump and Hurdles session. Steve Hughes, ex International Decathlete, coached a very enjoyable high jump activity, while Phil Fleetwood  enthusiastically delivered a number of hurdles routines.

Even Geoff Capes, who has represented his Country at 67 International Events and won the Worlds Strongest Man Title in 1983 and 1985, made a guest appearance at our Shot training discipline and offered our youngsters some very useful tips.

Special Thanks to all our Robins, who were on their best behaviour, worked hard, had lots of fun – and were a credit to our Club.

More Success for Robins in the NW Leicestershire Primary School runs, so well done to Holly Powell, Isobel Armstrong, Jasmine Stevens, Millie Shaw, William Paling, Elliot Kind, Amber Stevens, Kate Riley, Elise Hall-Dryden, Amy Shaw and Daisy Tyers

Other dates to note:

20th December 2009 – The Mince Pie Run – a fun run with members of Ivanhoe runners.
