If you have any questions about the club ask any of the committee. They may not know the answer, but should know someone who does! It was lovely to see some new faces at the AGM and plenty of support for the club and we welcome the new members onto the committee.
New Website
Look out for the new Robins Website: www.ivanhoerobins.co.uk
Ivan has spent a lot of time setting this up and it will be developed further. It already contains lots of information and the entry form for the Ivanhoe challenge. The newsletters will also be on the website. If you have any articles etc please pass them on.
If anyone has good computer skills (including older Robins) why not volunteer to be web editor?
Derby Runner League
A lovely day at Grace Dieu school and we all thought this was a short race until the hare led the runners off through a gap and way into the distance round a huge field before returning to the start, only for the year 7s and above to have to go all around again. Unfortunately there were no times for this race but our racers (a little depleted by all those skiers!) came in as follows:
Zach Meakin came 1st in the year 1-6 race, closely followed by Hannah Cox in 2nd, Vincent Stiles in 13th, Isobel Hughes 17th , Elliott Kind 18th and Sam Ehlan in 22nd.
Georgia Gartside was 3rd (first girl) in the year 7 and over.
Well done to our runners, lets see some more of you next time
The dates for the remaining races are as follows:
15th February 2009 (Foremark – why not treat this as a warm up for the challenge the following week?)
8th March 2009 (Huncote)
Junior races start at 10.15 with up to year 6 running 1 mile and year 7 and over 2 miles. It is £1 to enter
The results run as a league, but you can still just enter any race as a stand alone event.
Congratulations to Sam Moore, Georgia Gartside and Hannah Cox on being picked to run for Leicestershire at Wollaton Park on 7th March. Watch the race on sky TV!
Winter Grand Prix
We managed to get this run in before the snow arrived even though the wind was biting. There was a good turnout of 48 runners for the February run and the Robins put up a good show with 23 runners
Again, it was great to see some first time Robins at the run and some brave mums and dads as well.
A reminder that the next race in the winter grand prix is on Sunday 1st March 2009 at Kingshurst. There are two races left and you need to take part in four altogether in order to qualify for the grand prix but even if you don’t manage four, it is good to be able to compare your times over the same course.

Diary Dates and Reminders
22nd February – The Ivanhoe Challenge
Parents - If you can help with marshalling, recording, or anything else on the day please see Ivan as soon as possible.
Please get your entries in soon, we would like to have as many Robins as possible take part as this is our event and has been very successful in the past attracting around 200 runners. Make sure you have your entry form.
We would like to have at least one Robin’s team in every race if possible. You can choose whether to run as a Robin or for your school if you are needed for their team – but you can’t run for both.
An advance notice for the Oxford AC track and field event. This year it is to be held on Sunday 24th May, slightly earlier than usual on the first weekend of the May half term.
Look up the details on www.oxfordcityathleticclub.com and click on 5 star/ 10 step awards for details. The competitions are in single year age groups and anyone from 7 to 14 can enter (check entry form for details of events and age groups.
We will again look to take a coach (or two) and all travel together to what has now become a Robins’ tradition and always seems to be a glorious day.
Remember: No muddy shoes indoors please. Bring a spare pair!
The first group aim to run outside on the first Saturday of each month so come prepared! The others alternate as before but you may end up outside any week so please bring spare shoes and socks.
Payment of subs
By the time the next newsletter comes out, the next term’s fees will again be due. Please pay Ann promptly so that she is not still chasing subs when the next term is due. You will need to pay within 30 days please either at Robins or directly by post to Ann (details will be on next renewal slip)
An adjustment will be made as promised either on this next bill or the one after, for those who have completed four runs in the winter grand prix.
