Kettering Cross country Races

A cold December morning saw three Robins run in the Kettering AC Cross country races. Zach Meakin came 11^th in the U13 boy’s race in a time of 13 min 09.

In the U13 girls Hannah Cox and Georgia Gartside ran for their first claim club and both collected trophies and medals. Hannah came in second overall in 12 min 56 with Georgia in third place in 13 min 18; both were in the winning team.

New Website

Ivan has spent a lot of time setting this up and it will be developed further. It already contains lots of information and the entry form for the Ivanhoe challenge. The newsletters will also be on the website. If you have any articles etc please pass them on, or if anyone has good computer skills (including older Robins) why not volunteer to be web editor?

Derby Runner League

Another cold day at Bagworth Heath and a very muddy course – but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The years 1-6 run one lap and year 7 and over two laps.

Hannah Cox came 1^st in the year 1-6 race in a time of 4 min 56, followed by Zach Meakin in 4^th - 5 min 15, Jake Shaw 6^th  - 5 min 21, Harriet Roberts 10^th – 5 min 41, Jordan Meakin 12^th  - 5 min 48, Amy Shaw 25^th - 6 min 50, Sam Ehlan 27^{th -}  7 min 02, Isobel Hughes 29^th – 7 min 13 and Millie Shaw 30^th in 7 min 24.

Georgia Gartside was 3^rd (first girl) in the year 7 and over in a time of 10 min 58, Matthew Cox 12^{th -} 13 min  and Ellie Shaw 18^th in 13 min 53.

Well done to our runners, lets see some more of you next time

The dates for the remaining races are as follows:

18^th January 2009 (Grace Dieu)

15^th February 2009 (TBA, possibly Foremark)

8^th March 2009 (Huncote)

Junior races start at 10.15 with up to year 6 running 1 mile and year 7 and over 2 miles. It is £1 to enter

The results run as a league, but you can still just enter any race as a stand alone event.

Mince Pie Run

This was another good fun event with Robins teaming up with adults to run the Worthington course. The winning team comprised Joe Sanders and Hannah Cox, but the main point of the run is to help the members or each club to get to know each other.

Perhaps the hats should be part of our official kit!

Winter Grand Prix

A reminder that the next races in the winter grand prix is on Sunday 1^st February 2009 at Kingshurst. There are three races left and you need to take part in four altogether in order to qualify for the grand prix.

Get your entries in soon, we would like to have as many Robin’s as possible take part as this is our event and has been very successful in the past attracting around 200 runners. Make sure you have your entry form.

Remember: No muddy shoes indoors please. Bring a spare pair!

The first group aim to run outside on the first Saturday of each month so come prepared! The others alternate as before.
