Summer Grand Prix

We are now over half way through the summer grand prix events with two more happening since the last newsletter.

Robins out and about…….

June 12th was the finals of the secondary schools athletics. Congratulations to Gemma Holland who won the year 7 girls shot putt, Hannah Cox who won the year 7 girls 1,200m and Nathan Lewis who was second in the year 7 boys’ high jump. Well done also to Ellie Shaw, Abby Williamson, Lucy Roberts, Jake Shaw, Harriet Roberts, Adam Smith, Oliver Evans and Tom Riley who also qualified for the finals.

It was unfortunate that several schools cancelled their area sports and therefore quite a few of the older ones did not get a chance to compete. Also spare a thought for Holly Drake and Lucy Fielding who both qualified for the finals but were given incorrect times for their events and therefore were not able to run.

The Worthington fun run was held on 29th June with 16 robins taking part – in order of finishing they were: Nathan Lewis (1st overall), Stephen Watson, George Roberts, Abby Williamson, Harriet Roberts, Ellie Shaw, Lucy Roberts, Ben Clarke, Millie Shaw, Amy Shaw, Amber Stevens, Sam Ehlen , Natasha Kirk, Anna Chambers, Jasmine Stevens, Amy Clarke. Well done to you all.

Three Robins supported the two runs organised by network vision 2010 – Abby, Hannah and Matthew ran at both King Lear lake and Kibworth in the magic mile run.

Athletics Open Meeting – Charnwood AC Thursday 14th June – events on the day are 100m, 200m, 300m/400m 1500m, Hammer, Shot, Triple Jump, High Jump (females), Long Jump (males). Cost £3 per event to enter on the day. First event 6.45pm

Youth Games 27th June 2010

Ruth Shaw organised the team on behalf of North West Leicestershire this year for the youth games. Unfortunately we did not have a year 7/8 team largely because of changes to the criteria for selection this year. However year 5/6 team came in 6th place. Several robins took part in the team, - Rhiannon Woolerton, Kate Riley, Daisy Tyers, Bella Kemp, Michael Keaveney and Tom Molotnikoff.
