The Ivanhoe Challenge 2010! – A Great Success

13th February 2010 saw nearly 300 children taking on the challenge, many of whom had entered before and keep coming back – and an increased amount of support from other clubs, Charnwood, Corby, Nuneaton, Coritanians, Stilton, Burton, as well as local schools show that they see this as a valuable fixture in a busy running schedule. We had 51 Robins taking part and gained three individual gold medals, three bronze medals, two team golds and three team silvers which was fantastic. Full results are on our website, but a special mention to George Fielding, Isobel Armstrong and Hannah Cox, our three Gold medallists, Megan Lewis, James Collington and Lucy Arkinstall our bronze medallists

Robins out and about…….

Eight Robins went to the January centurion run, braving the snowy conditions for a post New Year run. Well done to Zach and Jordan Meakin, Reece and William Paling, Zoe and Michael Harris, James Foster and Samuel Ehlen….

In February, only four Robins turned out at Solihul, but the times they recorded were brilliant. Matthew Cox won the race in a new Robins record of 6 min 59, followed by Hannah Cox in 7 min 09, James Foster in 9 min 37 and Samuel Ehlen in 9 min 39. all were personal bests by a long way……

The Queniborough ‘fun’ run on 20th February had to be diverted around some of the water because it was too deep and fast flowing. However, Abby Williamson and Matthew Cox braved the elements and the mud again to put in two fantastic runs at this tough course.

Winter Grand Prix

There are two remaining dates for the winter grand prix:

March 7th 2010 - Centurion 2k fun run

March 20th 2010 – Thrussington Fun Run

Don’t forget you must run in robins’ kit to get points for the grand prix (blue Robins T shirt or Robins vest)

The Sport Relief Mile 2010 –

Sence Valley Forest Park, Ibstock, Sunday 21st March

On March 21st North West Leicestershire District Council will be running this year's Sport Relief Mile at Sence Valley Park, Ibstock. Sport Relief is a national charity programme that aims to raise a huge amount of money for good causes through sporting events. The whole of the UK will come together to get active, raise cash and change lives. Sport Relief has a unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to make a difference - from David Walliams’ swim across the English Channel, to Eddie Izzard’s amazing marathon a day around the UK. The Sport Relief Mile is the main event for thousands of participants to join. At the Sence Valley Forest Park event there will be 1, 3 and 6 mile courses. If you are interested in participating then all you need to do is apply online at www.sportrelief.com. Once on the site, click on "enter the mile" and type in your postcode or 'Ibstock' and follow the instructions to register for the mile. Trip to Oxford 30th May 2010

For the past three years, we have taken a bus (or two) of Robins, parents and coaches to the 5 star/ 10 step award athletics meeting at Oxford. This year it is being held on Sunday 30th May 2010. It is a great event because it starts from age 7 and you compete against your own year group. Everyone who has been in the past has thoroughly enjoyed the day and we have had some individual medals as well. Everyone also gets a certificate with their 10step/5star award points. If you are interested in going we need to know as soon as possible to book buses etc. We expect Robins to enter themselves for the event (cost £7 this year) but the club pays for all athletes on the bus. Anyone accompanying can also go on the bus at a nominal charge. All Robins should have at least one adult with them.

Please let us know if you would like to go to Oxford this year.
